Shankar has a work experience of over 30 years across five industries which includes FMCG, Multi-level marketing, Automobile, Telecom and Education industry.
He has worked as Head Training, Group Manager, Senior Manager, Branch Head & Sales Représentative based at New Delhi, Mumbai & Chennai, for companies like Virgin Mobile, Mahindra & Mahindra, NIS Sparta Ltd., Oriflame, Nestle & others.
Shankar has led over 200+ workshops, conceptualized, designed & delivered programs covering employees & clients across levels.
In his last stint with corporate world, he was heading the Sales training function of Virgin Mobiles in New Delhi. Here he created a Strategic Roadmap contributing towards the establishment of regular L&D of the Sales Organization and controlled its execution by outsourcing the training to a suitable vendor. He measured effectiveness of training by looking at the productivity of the field force and have suitable training & OJT. He Coached the Field Managers on how to handle team & increase productivity and also conducted in-house training program for line managers to overcome stress at work.
In his stint as Senior Manager Training with Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, Mumbai he streamlined the training function. He made training mandatory for all dealer sales staff across the country. They were trained in Sales and behavioral aspects. He also set up a HR manual for all dealers in the country.
His experience in NIS Sparta at Chennai helped him drive in Execution excellence, Key account management, Academy management and Team management. In fact, he learned his nuts and bolts about training in this organization. He handled a project for Voluntary Health Society (VHS), Chennai, for a USAID funded project – wherein a series of training programs for 2700 retailers in the state of Tamil Nadu for an attitude change towards the sale of condoms in their outlets for the prevention and spread of AIDS in the society was conducted. This project achieved a 50% post training conversion of retail outlets.
Currently, as a Consultant/Coach for the last 10 years, his focus is on Coaching, People management, improving productivity and team management. He specializes in offering blended learning programs which can be customized as short-byte as well as long term-based sessions with coaching & application-based learning. He has trained in various industries and verticals including: Manufacturing, Retail, Automobile, ITES, BFSI, Time Share, FMCG, Telecom, and Education. Shankar believes that trainers’ act as a ‘Catalyst in transforming people through their thoughts’ and hence he tries to ignite participants thought process to bring the benefits of change through training.
Shankar is a Master’s in Business Administration from RMIT, Australia. He is also an ICF certified coach.
Shankar is based in Chennai, India where he lives with his mother, wife and daughter. He spends his time reading books, watching movies and doing social work.
